Comcast Urethane Corporation was founded by Jim Baldwin in 1982 in Marshall, Michigan, as a contract molder of integral-skin urethane parts, with an initial focus on industrial and agricultural equipment. The original shop had 1 mix head, 2 employees, and was a foundry on the edge of town.

We're still family-owned and still on the same site — operating in a 16,000+ square foot facility with three high-pressure injection machines, five low-pressure injection machines, machine capabilities from 5 to 100 lbs per minute, a dedicated RIM line, and a state-of-the-art pentane blowing room operating under Michigan Title V air permits. Operational protections and redundancies are built into our processes throughout. Most of our current customers have been with us for more than a decade.

What's changed: the mixing is metered and monitored. The chemistry library has grown from one to more than a dozen formulations. And 350+ active parts in production. The customer base has expanded from industrial equipment into medical devices, automotive, furniture, recreation, and wheel chocks, and pentane-blown foam production for select applications.
